Meet Lumo-The First-Ever Eurovision Mascot!

For the first time in its history, the contest has its very own mascot! Say hello to Lumo, the glowing ambassador of Eurovision 2025 in Basel.

A Mascot Born from Creativity

The idea of a Eurovision mascot was brought to life by the Basel City Council and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to celebrate young artistic talent in Switzerland. Instead of hiring an agency, they launched a design competition, inviting students from the Basel Academy of Art and Design (BAAD) and the Basel School of Design to submit their most creative ideas.

And wow—1,100 students participated, showcasing their love for music, art, and Eurovision! Out of 36 shortlisted designs, one stood out: the creation of Lynn Brunner, a 20-year-old graphic design student at BAAD, who gave life to what would become the face of Eurovision 2025.

Who (or What) is Lumo?

Lumo isn’t just a mascot- it’s the beating heart of Eurovision! The name comes from the word ‘luminous’, symbolizing light, energy and the spark of creativity that the contest brings to millions every year.

With big, expressive eyes and flowing golden hair, Lumo shines as a gender-neutral and universal figure, embodying the contest’s core values: diversity, unity, and the power of music to bring people together. Whether you’re cheering for a power ballad, a dance anthem, or an experimental avant-garde piece (because hey, it’s Eurovision!), Lumo is there to celebrate every moment with you.

More Than Just a Mascot

Lumo isn’t just for show—it will be an active part of Eurovision 2025! Expect to see Lumo on stage, in digital content, and at fan events, spreading Eurovision joy everywhere. There are even rumors of exclusive Lumo merchandise and interactive experiences where fans can bring Lumo to life through AR technology.

So, whether you’re waving your flag in Basel or watching from your couch with a bowl of snacks, Lumo is here to light up Eurovision like never before!

Spread the love
