Second Semi-Final: Second Dress Rehearsal Review

Hello everyone! Hope you are enjoying Eurovision week and that your favourites from semi-final 1 made it to the final. Unfortunately, our home country Cyprus didn’t qualify, but we are still incredibly proud of Theo Evan’s unique performance- he brought something fresh to the Eurovision stage!

But the show must go on, and tonight we’ll be watching semi-final 2. After watching the second dress rehearsals last night via the online media platform, we are here to share our thoughts and give you a preview of what to expect. Let’s dive in! (warning-some spoilers ahead!)

  • Australia

Australia kicked off the show with a vibrant and energetic performance from Go-Jo. The staging was bold, with colourful graphics, costume changes, and some silly dancing. It was a fun way to start the show, and we absolutely loved it!

        Prediction: will qualify

        • Montenegro

Nina’s vocals were flawless, and the performance had that classic Eurovision ballad feel. However, her dress felt a bit too much for the performance. Plus, performing second isn’t exactly advantageous—it’s likely to get lost in the mix.

        Prediction: will not qualify

        • Ireland

We found that Emmy’s performance was a bit monotonous. She spent most of the time singing on a platform, which didn’t offer much visual variety. We expected a bit more from this entry.

        Prediction: will not qualify

        • Latvia

We were all about Latvia’s staging! Tautumeitas‘ outfits and the graphics gave off strong “alien” vibes, and the overall presentation was polished and unique. The song itself stands out in a sea of more traditional entries, making it one to watch.

        Prediction: will not qualify

        • Armenia

Parg’s vocals were the best we’ve ever heard from him! The treadmill-based staging was a nice touch, but we’re not sure if this will be enough to push Armenia into the final. It’s solid, but the competition is fierce.

        Prediction: will not qualify

        • Austria

Austria is one to watch—this could be a potential winner! JJ’s vocals were simply stunning, and the technical elements, like the boat prop and black-and-white camera effects, added a cinematic touch that really impressed us.

        Prediction: will qualify

        • Greece

Hands down, the best vocals of the night. Klavdia sounded just like the studio version, and the dress change at the end was a nice touch. The only downside was the backdrop—there was a lot going on visually, and it made it hard to focus entirely on her.

        Prediction: will qualify

        • Lithuania

Katarsis‘ performance was very similar to their national selection show, with no major changes to the staging. It was solid, but we were hoping for a bit more flair.

        Prediction: will qualify

        • Malta

Unfortunately, Malta was our biggest disappointment. While we still like the song, the performance didn’t do it justice. The excessive use of red in the graphics, Miriana’s elaborate outfit, and her vocals sounding a bit out of breath didn’t work for us.

        Prediction: will qualify

        • Georgia

While we’re not huge fans of the song, the staging was strong, and Mariam’s vocals were impressive. The outfit change seemed a bit unnecessary, but it didn’t detract from her overall performance.

        Prediction: will not qualify

        • Denmark

Sissal’s performance improved from the national final, and the blue colour scheme added a nice touch. It was solid overall, though it didn’t quite knock us out.

        Prediction: will qualify

        • Czechia

Adonx’s vocals were solid, and his outfit was unique. The dance break with red LED lights was impressive, and the choreography stood out, but we’ll see if the rest of the performance can stand out in the crowd.

        Prediction: will qualify

        • Luxembourg

One of our favourites of the night! Laura’s vocals were on point, and the staging was beautifully executed, especially with the dancers and her outfit change towards the end. This one stood out!

        Prediction: will qualify

        • Israel

Another beautiful Eurovision ballad, and Yuval’s vocals were strong for the most part. However, she did struggle with the high notes in one of the choruses, so let’s hope she improves tonight. The chandelier-like staircase was an interesting touch, but the staging didn’t feel very original.

        Prediction: will qualify

        • Serbia

Princ brought something unexpected to the table with four dancers on stage. One of the highlights was his acapella moment—very impressive! There’s a quirky moment where the dancers drag him around the stage, adding a unique twist to the performance.

        Prediction: will not qualify

        • Finland

What a way to close the show! Erika’s performance was fire. She commanded the stage with just herself, proving that sometimes less is more. It was a strong finish to the night.

        Prediction: will qualify

        Big 5 countries:

        France

This could be another winner! The performance was emotional, and Louane’s vocals were exceptional. The sand falling during the performance was a dramatic touch, though it did fall into her mouth at one point. Despite that, she carried on flawlessly.

        Germany

Germany’s performance brought strong clubbing and dancing vibes, and the staging was well-produced. Vocally, it was great but not quite perfect. Still, it could do well in the competition.

        United Kingdom

A sweet, feel-good performance from Remember Monday, with a charming representation of UK shows. There were some microphone issues during the rehearsal, which affected their sound a bit, but hopefully, that will be fixed. We loved the ending, where they sing through a heart prop—very cute!

That’s our opinions for tonight’s performances- let’s see what will happen and if we see any surprising qualifiers like in the first semi. Which country are you rooting for tonight? Let us know!
