Marina Satti for Greece
The greek broadcasting channel ERT announced late last month their representative for next year’s contest, and it will be the singer Marina Satti. This will also be Greece’s 50th anniversary in Eurovision!
Who is Marina Satti?
Marina Satti was born and raised in Crete from a Greek mother and a Sudanese father. She gained popularity after releasing her single ‘Koupes’ (Cups) in 2016. A year later she released her song ‘Mantissa’ (Fortune teller), which became a #1 hit in Cyprus, Greece and across Europe. Last year she released her debut album called YENNA (Birth) and she toured in Greece, Cyprus and in Europe. This summer she performed 2 of her new songs at the MAD awards, the biggest music celebration in Greece. Her new single TUCUTUM, a song-commentary on Balkan trap, became viral in the summer.
In addition to this, Marina is also the founder of the all-female a cappella group Fones (Voices), who toured across Greece and Europe.
Marina is known for the use of traditional elements in her songs, showing both her Greek and Sudanese roots. It is believed that her song for Malmo should be in same genre, so we are expecting some ethnic cool beats!
