How to throw a Eurovision party

It’s the final countdown to the biggest music contest in the world and the whole globe started beating to Eurovision rhythms. Whether you made plans for the big week or not, we are here to help you organise the best Eurovision party!

Step 1: Send invites

One thing we love about Eurovision is that it brings family and friends together to have fun and share their music preferences with each other. Send invites to your friends/family (they don’t have to be Eurofans to enjoy the night) with the place and time! It would be better to start the party a few hours before the contest starts so it gives your guests time to arrive and settle. You can use Canva for some template ideas for your invitations!

Step 2: Decorate

This is of course optional, but what a better way to get into the mood by decorating the place. Some ideas include country flags, balloons, confetti, printed photos of previous Eurovision entries and lights. Here are some ideas from some Eurovision parties we attended!

Step 3: Food/Drinks

There are many ideas what you could do with food and drinks. Of course, if you are busy and don’t have much time to prepare food yourself you can go down the easy way of the take-away. If you have more free time in your hands, you can create an international buffet with snacks from each country participating in the contest! For example, you can serve a cheese platter for France, a meat platter for Spain, olives for Greece, mini-pizzas for Italy and so on! You can do the same for drinks, for example a different beer or wine from each country.

Step 4: Games

A Eurovision party is not complete without any games. The most popular one is voting your own winner. As a host you can print out the scoring sheets with all the participating countries, and the guests can vote and make notes during the show. At the end of the night, you will count the votes and crown your own Eurovision champion! You can print the sheets from Eurovision World.

Another game is Eurovision bingo. Print a bingo card with possible things that can happen during the night. Some ideas are: a country getting null points, an artist crying on stage, appearance of pyrotechnics on stage, a previous Eurovision contestant giving out the points at the end. If anything from the bingo card happens, then everyone needs to do a shot. Just a note- you might need to rewatch the contest the next day after playing this game since there is a high possibility of not remembering it.

Step 5: Dress up

Can you host a Eurovision party without a dress up code? No you can’t. Let your guests know that it’s a dress up party and they can dress up as their favourite Eurovision entry (or their favourite Eurovision costume).
