Lithuania in Eurovision

Today marks another national day, with Lithuania celebrating their act of independence! So today’s article is dedicated to Lithuania and its Eurovision history.

Lithuania made its Eurovision debut in Dublin in 1994, but unfortunately with null points. Their disappointment only lasted 5 years and they returned in 1999 with Aistè and her song ‘Strazdas’, finishing 20th. In total they count 25 participations but no victories. However, they made it to the top 10 3 times! Their best result was achieved in 2006 with LT United and their song ‘We are the winners’, which finished 6th. They also achieved the 9th place in 2016 with Donny Montell and the song ‘I’ve been waiting for this night’, and they came 8th with The Roop in 2021 and their song ‘Discoteque’.

Out of the 25 participations, only 4 songs were in Lithuanian language. In recent years it wasn’t until 2022 with Monika Liu and her song ‘Sentimentai‘, who performed in Lithuanian for the first time since 2001.

Tomorrow is the grand final of the Lithuanian national selection Eurovizija.LT, with 10 artists competing for the golden ticket to Malmo. It is taking place at 21.00 EET (20.00 CET and 19.00 GTM) and will be live broadcasted from the Lithuanian broadcaster LRT and the Eurovision YouTube channel! Here is the running order:
