Montenegro Returns: Montesong 2024 Kicks Off the Season!

With the first national selection of the season happening this Wednesday, we decided to write an article about Montenegro and their return in the contest after a two year break!

Montenegro in Eurovision
Montenegro made its debut as an independent country in 2007, with Stevan Faddy’sAjde Kroči’. While it didn’t qualify for the final, it marked the start of Montenegro’s unique Eurovision story. Before 2007, Montenegro participated as part of Yugoslavia (1961-1992) and later as part of Serbia and Montenegro (2004-2006).

It took a few tries, but Montenegro finally reached the Eurovision final in 2014 with Sergej Ćetković’s heartfelt ballad ‘Moj Svijet‘ (=My World), landing in 19th place. The following year, they achieved their best result to date when Knez and his soul-stirring Balkan ballad “Adio” (=Farewell) finished 13th in Vienna. Since then, Montenegro has participated 12 times, with intermittent breaks in 2010, 2011, 2021, 2023, and 2024.
