We have entered the year of Eurovision happening in Malmo with every day hiding a surprise! So far there has been ticket release, stage information, logo and slogan reveal, and artist names and songs revealed.
Don’t worry if you missed out any news over the holiday break, in this article we will update you with some of the recent artists revealed for Malmo. Grab a brew and let’s go!
Joost Klein for Netherlands
Joost Klein, a 26-year-old singer, writer and artist, was selected internally by Avrotros (Dutch broadcaster) to represent the Netherlands in Malmo. He started his career in 2017 when he released his first single ‘Jan Peter Balkenende’ and later in the same year he released his debut album ‘Scandinavian Boy’. Since then his career took off, with many singles, albums and sold-out shows. He is very famous in central Europe with his song ‘Ome Robert’ becoming a summer hit in Belgium, Germany and Austria. Let’s see what he will bring to Malmo this year!
Raiven for Slovenia
Raiven will represent Slovenia in Malmo with her song ‘Veronica’, which premiered on the 20th of January. Raiven is a mezz-sorprano singer and harpist and her style is characterised by elements of pop and opera. Her song is based on a figure from Slovenian folklore called Veronica and she described it as a ‘hymn to the sirens’. Will she bring her harp to the stage in Malmo? We will find out soon!
Aiko for Czechia
Aiko won the ticket to Sweden after winning the national Czech selection ESCZ 2024 on the 4th of December with her song ‘Pedestal’. It is a powerful pop-punk song about self-love, empowerment and independence. She lives in Brighton and already have a big career, being the first Czech artist to be featured in the iconic Times Square in New York.
Olly Alexander for UK
This was one of the biggest surprises for this year so far. The famous British popstar was announced as the representative of United Kingdom for 2024 during the Grand Final of the BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing. If you don’t know Olly Alexander, he started as the singer of the pop-electro band ‘Years and years’. Now he is following a solo career with 3 successful albums- two of them reaching the top of UK charts, 10 UK top 40 singles and a Brit billion award. He has headlined many arenas and festivals and collaborated with big names including Elton John and Kylie Minogue. He is also in Madame Tussauds museum- proper British! The song hasn’t been revealed yet, but there are rumours that Dua Lipa is involved (rumours!).
