NEW ARTISTS FOR MALMO-PART 7!

Here is your weekly update about new artists for Malmo!

Kaleen for Austria

Kaleen will be the Austrian representative for this year’s contest with her song ‘We Will Rave‘. She was selected internally by the Austrian Broadcaster ORF. In total there were 14 artists shortlisted that were judged by a jury and Eurovision fan clubs. Kaleen was officially announced as Austria’s representative on the 16th of January during an Austrian radio show.

Kaleen (real name Marie-Sophie Kreissl) is a 29-year-old professional dancer and singer from Austria. She is no stranger to Eurovision as she started getting involved with the contest in 2018 as a dancer and choreographer for the interval act. In 2021 and 2022 she took part in Junior Eurovision as a creative director. In 2023 she was involved in the staging of not only Austria’s entry but also Armenia’s, Germany’s and Georgia’s. This will be the first year she will perform as an artist. The song ‘We Will Rave’ was released on the 1st of March. It is a techno-inspired pop song with elements of 90s-early 2000s techno but in a Eurovision way. We can’t wait to rave to this song all night!

Nemo for Switzerland

Since 2019 the National Swiss Broadcaster SRG SSR holds an internal national selection to determine their entry for the contest. This year Nemo was chosen to be the Swiss representative with the song ‘The Code’, released on 29th of February by Better Now records.

Nemo is a 24-year-old Swiss artist from Biel, currently living in Berlin. They started their career in 2015 releasing their first EP Clownfisch, which reached number 95 in Swiss charts. Since then, they released 2 EPs, with 7 songs reaching the Swiss Singles Charts. They also won 5 Swiss Music Awards. Nemo came out as a non-binary in November 2023. Their song ‘The Code’ is about their experience with understanding their identity and coming out- ‘This story is my truth’. They want to give the message to everyone to crack their own code and enter the kingdom of authenticity and be themselves. Good luck Nemo!

Teya Dora for Serbia

Serbia has selected their representative for Malmo! On Saturday 2nd of March, the final of the Serbian National Selection Pesma za Evroviziju 24 was held, with 16 participants but only 1 winner. Teya Dora was placed on top, with the maximum 12 points from jury and 10 points from televote, and earned her Eurovision ticket with her song ‘Ramonda’.

Teodora Pavlovska, known as Teya Dora, is a 32-year-old Serbian singer and songwriter from Belgrade. She started her career in the music industry in 2019, releasing her first song ‘Da na meni je’. She wrote songs for many notable Serbian artists and also wrote a song for a Filarri’s entry in last year’s Pesma za Evroviziju. Her song ‘Ramonda’ is in Serbian and is described as a magical lullaby. It is about the flower Ramonda, which is the symbol of Serbian peoples struggle and victory in World War 1. Serbia had the largest causality rate relative to its population in WW1, losing 28% of its total population. A Ramonda is worn on the Armistice Day in Serbia, like a remembrance poppy, to commemorate Serbian soldiers who died in the war as well as the resurrection of the country after a devastating war. Teya Dora will perform Ramonda in the first half of semi final 1. We wish her luck!
