Happy Friday ESCHeartbeats family! Another day, another amazing line-up for this year’s contest! Today we are exploring Malta’s, Ukraine’s and Azerbaijan’s entries for Basel 2025. Let’s go!
Malta: Miriana Conte- ‘Kant’
Malta is bringing the power to Eurovision 2025 with Miriana Conte and her song ‘Kant‘ (meaning Singing in Maltese)! She dominated Malta Eurovision Song Contest (MESC 2025), winning the televote and placing second with the jury, securing her ticket to Basel.
Who is Miriana?
Miriana is a familiar face in the Maltese music scene. She first gained national recognition as a finalist on the debut season of X Factor Malta, where she performed as part of the band 4th Line. But her Eurovision dreams have been long in the making—she’s competed in MESC four times before, in 2017, 2018, 2022, and 2024, always striving for that precious Eurovision spot.
Now, her time has come! ‘Kant’—which means “singing” in Maltese—is a playful nod to both the Maltese language and the English word “can’t.” While the song will receive a revamp ahead of Eurovision, the lyrics will remain unchanged. With her powerful vocals and years of experience, Miriana is ready to shine on the Eurovision stage!

Ukraine: Ziferblat- ‘Bird of Pray’
Say hello to Ziferblat– the band who stole the show at Vidbir 2025 and will fly the Ukrainian flag in Basel with their song ‘Bird of Pray’. They won the hearts of the public, securing the top spot in televote, and finished second with the jury.
Who are Ziferblat?
Ziferblat are a Ukrainian rock band formed in 2015. Their sound is characterised by blends of rock, indie and traditional elements. They released their debut album in 2023 called ‘Peretvorennya’ (meaning Transformation). They are not strangers to Vidbir. They participated to the final of Vidbir 2024, finishing 2nd with their song ‘Place I Call Home’.
The song ‘Bird of Pray’ is an alternative rock song about the struggles that the Ukrainian people face daily. Can Ziferblat continue Ukraine’s streak of Eurovision success? We’ll find out in Basel! Until then, let’s wish them the best of luck!

Azerbaijan: Mamagama – ‘Run With U’
The band Mamagama will represent Azerbaijan with their song ‘Run With U’. They were internally selected by the Azerbaijani broadcaster.
Who are Mamagama?
Mamagama is an Azerbaizani rock band known for their rock, pop and folk sounds. Formed in 2021, they’ve already made waves in the international music scene, performing at various festivals including Albania’s Kënga Magjike Music Festival in 2022. The band is made up of Asaf on vocals, Huss on guitar and Arif on drums.
‘Run With U’ combines modern sound with powerful rhythms and an impressive melody, aiming to inspire listeners and bring a fresh energy to the Eurovision stage. Get ready for some serious Azerbaijani rock magic! ‘Run With U‘ will be performed in Second Half of the First Semi-Final on Tuesday 13 May.
