Eurovision 2024 season is now over. We travelled to Malmo, we danced, we laughed, we stressed a bit, we met other eurofans and artists and now we are suffering from post-Eurovision blues.
We thought to share with you our experience in Malmo including some of our favourite moments as a possible remedy for our Eurovision depression (and of course to also serve you all the tea!). Let’s travel together to Malmo!
How we got there:
So the easiest way for us to travel was Manchester to Copenhagen airport and then a train journey to Malmo, which is only 20 minutes from the airport! All you do is cross a bridge and you are in Sweden.
Eurovision street and village:
This time the Eurovision village was in Folkets park, Malmö’s oldest park! It is located in Triangeln area, which is a stop on the main train line so it’s super convenient to get there! On your way to the park from the train stop you pass the Eurovision street- a road that was closed from traffic with lots of restaurants, coffee shops and colourful decorations. The park itself was like a fairytale. It was decorated in beautiful colours, fairy lights and hearts. Even the trash bins were Eurovision themed! There were two main stages- the Euphoria stage and the Tattoo stage (there should also be a Hero’s stage but I guess this year was all about Loreen) where lots of artists and choirs performed. Previous Eurovision legends such as Kalush Orchestra, Conchita Wurst, Kaarija, Go A but also some of this year’s artists performed on stage. There were also lots of activities, such as Face Painting, Dance tutorials, Eurovision quiz and more!
Euroclub:
The official Euroclub was hosted at Malmö Live-a very fancy hotel/live music venue! At the ground floor they had a lounge area where you could grab drinks and food and sit down and relax. The club was located on the first floor- there were two rooms were they played Eurovision hits non-stop! Every night there were special guests performing on stage, including Konstrakta, Hurricane, Frans, Rosa Linn and many more. They also served a special United by music beer (my favourite part hehe).
Arena:
Malmö arena was located at Hyllie, just outside the train station. Once you entered the outdoors area of the arena a dj was playing summer music with lots of food and drink trucks-it was like a festival. But the real magic happened inside. The stage was breathtaking! The colours, the cross-shaped stage, the 4-boxes hanging from the ceiling, it was all so well produced and executed! One thing that is for sure is that Swedish people know how to throw a good show!
Here were our favourite moments from this experience!
Evi: ‘One of my favorite moments from my Eurovision trip was attending the jury rehearsal and watching the full show live in the arena with my friends. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric, with fans from all over the world united by their love for music. Seeing my favorite performances live was an experience like no other, so different from watching it on TV. The energy of the crowd, the vibrant stage, and the powerful vocals created an unforgettable experience. Switzerland’s performance was my favorite, captivating me with its emotion and precision. I also felt a surge of pride when Cyprus took the stage, and I was thrilled with Silia’s performance and the positive outcome.’
Sofia: ‘One of the many highlights of this experience for me was the Euroclub. Dancing with so many eurofans from all over the world to Eurovision beats all night long is something you don’t experience often. I really enjoyed partying with my friends and also making new friends and sharing our favorite Eurovision moves! Also many artists were hanging out at the Euroclub so while you were dancing you could see them dancing next to you! It felt like a VIP area- having a slice of Pizza at the lounge area and Rylan chilling at the sofa next to you.’
Tack Malmö!
